Amicus

Baine Kerr & Matt Delgado, Co-Chairs

Identifies opportunities for amicus filings and coordinates drafting and filing of amicus briefs and communications with other LGBT organizations regarding such activities.


Annual Gala
Eryk Escobar & Ajay Kusnoor, Co-Chairs

Responsible for site selection, planning, logistics, and execution of Annual Awards Gala, including speakers, honorees, guests, volunteers, décor, pre-dinner reception, menu selections, entertainment and scholarship presentations.


Board Development

Ajay Kusnoor, Chair 

Recruits and develops new executive committee and board members and coordinates long-term planning for LGBT Bar LA.


Communications/Website

Responsible for the development and maintenance of LGBT Bar LA website, online membership portal, membership directory, email service and association marketing materials.


Finance

Manages all LGBT Bar LA's finances in coordination with association's accountant. 


Judicial Endorsements

Mark A. Lemke, Chair

Responsible for evaluating and/or supporting qualified, non-partisan candidates for judicial office and for making endorsement recommendations to the Board of Governors for consideration and vote. LGBT Bar LA endorses candidates as "qualified," rather than ranking them as "exceptionally/well/qualified."

Law Students/Young Lawyers

Joseph Iniguez, Chair 

Develops and implements activities related to law student members, including the mentorship program, the annual law student reception, career day visits, and other student events, and promoting and coordinating submissions and presenting the Annual Donald L. Snow Scholarship Award. Provides an outlet for new LGBT California Bar admittees to network with other young lawyers, an accessible link for career advice and an exchange of information on legal career trends, advice, ideas, MCLE and achieving a life/work balance.

MCLE

James Holmes & Jordan Aiken, Co-Chairs

“One of LGBT Bar LA’s primary missions is education of the legal community at large on LGBT issues, including pending legislation and legal developments that will have a significant impact on the LGBT community. We also offer top quality MCLE on topics that reflect a general interest among our membership and provide an opportunity to complete the specialty credits in ethics, bias and substance abuse mandated by the California State Bar. Our MCLE program provides unique networking opportunities with other LGBT and community-friendly attorneys.


Membership
Madison Fairchild, Chair

Develops and implements activities to increase membership and diversity within LGBT Bar LA and to facilitate annual membership renewals for law students and working legal professionals.


Pro Bono
Jordan Aiken, Chair 

Encourages and facilitates pro bono participation of LGBT Bar LA's members through the coordination and development of pro bono projects and opportunities. 


Risk Management

Cameron Faber, Chair 

Oversees the procurement and administration of insurance policies issued to LGBT Bar LA. Manages any claims that arise under the insurance policies. Communicates with Board regarding LGBT Bar LA's insurance program and open claims. 


Social Networking

Madison Fairchild & Ken Sanchez, Co-Chairs

Charged with planning and presenting periodic social events, which include but are not limited to joint mixers with other bar associations and community/non-profit organization, Hollywood Bowl nights, attendance at the theater and sports events and the Summer Party. The purpose of these events is to allow our LGBT Bar LA members to meet, network and mingle with a broad section of the LGBT community in Los Angeles.


Transgender Legal Professionals

Madison Fairchild, Chair

Increases visibility of the trans community in the legal profession by organizing opportunities for networking and social gathering that are trans-inclusive. Serves as reference point on issues affecting the trans community in the legal setting. 


Women

Lauren Greene & Candace Matson, Co-Chairs

Responsible for designing, planning and coordinating social, networking and career-related events that are centered on the interests of women and women lawyers.
