Reducing Implicit Bias

Implicit bias is part and parcel of the human experience, but it nonetheless can be a taboo subject. Implicit biases develop from a lifetime of social conditioning, but they can be addressed and mitigated. This presentation will provide an overview of: what implicit bias is, the harmful effects of implicit bias in both law and society, implicit bias in case law and policy, and techniques to retrain the mind to minimize the occurrence of implicit bias. The session will conclude with a mindfulness practice on confronting the effects that implicit bias has had on participants in their own lives.
Attendance is FREE to active members and members of our sibling organizations, and only $20 for non-members (it pays to be a member!).
